Aero Club

DDAC is a not-for-profit flying school and aero club. Club members are part of an aviation community and are invited to join BBQs, flying competitions, and an Annual Pilot's Dinner. 


Members can privately hire our aircraft at competitive rates. Local fly-aways encourage pilots to keep their flying skills current whilst enjoying a trip with friends.

Hello Members - an update on what’s happening with the Toowoomba Airport. As previously advised, Toowoomba City Airport is under real threat of closure. Toowoomba Regional Council have quietly moved forward the date of the meeting to decide whether our Airport will remain open. We are asking that you help show your support by attending the Council meeting at 8.30am on Tuesday 28th May 2024 at Council Chambers in Herries Street – next to the Library. The Aero Club will be closed for the morning so all staff can attend. I can’t stress enough the importance of your physical attendance at Council Chambers on Tuesday morning. The bigger the numbers - the greater chance of our voice being heard. You can keep up to date with all the Airport news by visiting/liking/sharing Toowoomba City Community Airport facebook page. Fun Flight is back! We’re proud to be hosting this wonderful event on the 14th of September at the Toowoomba City Aerodrome. FunFlight is a national charity, founded in 2008, that inspires and assists aeroclubs to plan and host safe and joyful events to bring light into the lives of families touched by adversity. Working with national and local charities, FunFlight events have hosted families who have a child with a disability or serious illness, where one parent is ill and families just doing it tough and in need of an uplifting experience. VALE | HOWARD EDWARD RUBB 19th July 1937 - 27th June 2023 The Darling Downs Aero Club meant a great deal to Howard and played a big part in his life. He learnt to fly with the Club, gained his PPL in 1962, then qualified for his Commercial Licence in 1964, and in 1965 received his C Grade Instructor Rating. He liked flying high wing planes with a preference for Cessnas. He worked for the Club as an Instructor, was a Committee member for 13 years, being Treasurer for 7 years and a Club supporter from the time he first put his foot in an aircraft. Howard never missed a Club Competition, attended the Club's open evenings held on Friday and Sunday nights when he was "behind" the bar, took part in Fly Aways, supported the Club when it conducted the ALACs (Australian Light Aircraft Competitions). He was present at the Club AGMs always recording the financial position and flying hours of the club. It was with a great deal of pride that Howard accepted his Life Membership of the Club in 1987. ~ submitted by one of Howard’s friends Rest in Peace Howard, from all of us at DDAC, thank you for your contribution. We’ll miss having you around!
